Review Requests: Redirect customers to a specific URL after unsubscribing

  • Updated

When a customer clicks the unsubscribe link in one of your review emails, Stamped records the unsubscribe and then redirects their browser to a confirmation page. This setting lets you choose that page, so you can send them somewhere on your own domain instead of Stamped's default. Follow this guide to learn more!

Key notes

  • This setting is optional. If you leave it blank, customers land on Stamped's default confirmation page at https://stamped.io/unsubscribe, which is generic and Stamped-branded. Many merchants prefer to point this at their own domain, so the whole experience stays on-brand.
  • You build and host the page yourself. Stamped does not provide a page builder for this purpose, and any URL is acceptable: your homepage, a “sorry to see you go” page, a preference centre, or a page offering an alternative way to stay in touch.
  • This setting only controls where the browser goes and has no effect on whether the unsubscribe itself is recorded.

What this setting does and does not do

Two separate things happen when a customer clicks unsubscribe:

  1. Stamped records the unsubscribe. The customer is added to your unsubscribed list and will not be sent review requests for new orders. This happens automatically and is not affected by this setting.
  2. The customer's browser is redirected to a confirmation page. This setting controls that page only.

Changing the redirect URL should not fix, break, or change who receives emails. If emails continue arriving, see the Troubleshooting section below.

Setting up the redirect link

  1. In the Stamped dashboard, go to Settings > Customize > Reviews > Redirection

  2. Add your custom URL in the Unsubscribed Redirect URL (optional) text box
  3. Click the Save button when you're done

What to expect: the next customer who clicks unsubscribe is taken to your page instead of Stamped's. To check, paste the URL you entered into a browser and confirm the page loads for someone who isn't signed in to your store.

Troubleshooting

Issue What to check
The unsubscribe link leads to a 404 or error page The page you pointed to no longer exists, or the URL has a typo. Open Settings > Customize > Reviews > Redirection, copy the URL into a browser and confirm it loads. This often happens after you rename a page, unpublish it, or redesign a site.
Custom URL set but customers still land on Stamped's page Confirm you clicked Save and that the field still holds your URL after refreshing the page. If it does, clear the field, save, re-enter the URL and save again. If it still does not apply, contact support@stamped.io.
A customer unsubscribed but is still receiving emails This is unrelated to the redirect setting. The usual cause is an email sequence that was already in progress: when the first review request sends, the follow-ups are already scheduled, so a customer who unsubscribes partway through can still receive the remaining emails from that sequence. They will not be contacted for any new orders. If emails continue beyond that sequence, add the address to your suppression list under Settings > General > Exclusions, or contact support.
A test order is not generating a review request Check whether that email address has previously unsubscribed. Once a customer is on the unsubscribed list, review requests are not generated for them at all. Use a different address for testing.

If you also send email through Klaviyo or another ESP

This redirect setting is independent of Klaviyo, Attentive and any other platform you send from. It only controls where the customer's browser goes after unsubscribing in Stamped.

Important: an unsubscribe recorded in Stamped does not automatically propagate to Klaviyo or Attentive. If you send any customer messaging from those platforms, the customer can keep receiving it until you suppress them there too. Keep your opt-out lists in sync across every platform you send from.

If you need help syncing unsubscribes across platforms, please reach out to our support team at support@stamped.io.
