Migrating Reviews Between E-Commerce Platforms

Migrating to a new e-commerce platform doesn’t mean leaving your hard-earned reviews behind. With the correct product ID mapping, we can associate your existing reviews with the correct products on your new platform.

This guide explains what’s required and how to prepare for a smooth review migration.
 

How Review Migration Works

When moving from one platform to another (for example, from BigCommerce to Shopify), product IDs change.

To migrate reviews successfully, each existing review must be reassigned from the old product ID to the new product ID. This is done using a CSV file that maps products from your previous platform to your new one.


Before You Begin

Before submitting a migration request, please confirm the following:

  1. Stamped.io is installed on your new platform 
    • Install the app and complete the initial setup on your new store. 
  2. A new Stamped.io account is created 
    • Your new platform must have its own Stamped.io account so reviews can be correctly linked.

Required CSV File

To proceed with migration, you’ll need to provide a CSV file containing product ID mappings.
Your CSV must include the following columns:

old_product_id (Product ID from your previous platform, for example, BigCommerce)
product_id (Product ID from your new platform, for example, Shopify) 
 

Recommended Columns:

product_title 
product_url 
product_image_url

While not mandatory, these fields help us confirm accuracy during the migration process. Including these fields is strongly recommended to help verify products and prevent mismatches.

Submitting Your Migration Request

Once you have:

  1. Installed Stamped.io on your new platform 
  2. Created your new Stamped.io account 
  3. Prepared your product ID mapping CSV

Submit the CSV file to our support team, and we’ll assist with migrating your reviews.

*Reviews cannot be migrated without a valid product ID mapping. Product IDs must be platform-generated IDs (not SKUs, handles, or URLs). Migration timelines may vary depending on the size and completeness of your data.

Please note: When migrating to another Stamped account, existing settings and configurations from your previous account will not carry over. This includes (but is not limited to) review templates, email sequence settings, and notification preferences. These will need to be reconfigured in the new account after migration to ensure everything runs as expected.
