Loyalty & Reward: Exclude Customers or Orders from Loyalty & Rewards Program with Tags

If you have any specific customers, products, or orders that you would like to exclude from your loyalty program, you can do so using tags. Follow this guide to learn how to add and use tags.


Key Notes

  • This feature is only available for Shopify users.
  • For other e-commerce platforms, you can add customers' emails to your suppression list instead: Loyalty & Rewards: Exclude Customers' Emails from Loyalty & Rewards Program
  • Please note that regardless of whether customers earn points or participate in your Loyalty program, every single order placed in your store will count toward your monthly order limit. To learn more about your order limit, visit our Billing guide here. Learn more about exclusions here.

The below guide provides instructions for both our Loyalty Classic and Loyalty 2.0 experience. We are migrating customers to Loyalty 2.0 throughout the coming months. If you're unsure which version you are on now, please first navigate here.

Loyalty Classic

Adding Tags

  1. Go to Settings - Exclusions

Exclude Customers with Tags

  1. Under "Exclude Customers with tags", type in the tag you'd like to use to exclude customers from your loyalty program (e.g. 'exclude-customer')
  2. Click Save to save your settings
  3. In your Shopify Admin, add the 'exclude-customer' tag to all customers you'd like to exclude from your loyalty program

Exclude Orders Containing Products with Tags

  1. Under "Exclude Orders containing products with tags", type in the tag you'd like to use to exclude products from your loyalty program (e.g. 'exclude-products')
  2. Click Save to save your settings
  3. In your Shopify Admin, add the 'exclude-products' tag to all products you'd like to exclude from your loyalty program

Exclude Orders with Tags

  1. Under "Exclude Orders with tags", type in the tag you'd like to use to exclude orders from your loyalty program (e.g. 'exclude-order')
  2. Click Save to save your settings
  3. In your Shopify Admin, add the 'exclude-order' tag to all orders you'd like to exclude from your loyalty program

Adding Tags

  1. Go to Earning Points and scroll down to the Customer Exclusions section:

  2. Click Save to save your settings
  3. In your Shopify Admin, add the 'exclude-customer' tag to all customers you'd like to exclude from your loyalty program

Exclude Orders Containing Products with Tags

  1. Go to Earning Points and when creating a new Rule or editing an existing Rule, scroll down to Settings > Exclusion and select Product Tags from the Exclude any drop-down; type in the tag you'd like to use to exclude products from your loyalty program (e.g. 'exclude-products')

  2. Click Save to save your settings
  3. In your Shopify Admin, add the 'exclude-products' tag to all products you'd like to exclude from your loyalty program

Exclude Orders with Tags

  1. Similar to the above, go to Earning Points and when creating a new Rule or editing an existing Rule, scroll down to Settings > Exclusion and select Order Tags from the Exclude any drop-down; type in the tag you'd like to use to exclude orders from your loyalty program (e.g. 'exclude-order')
  2. Click Save to save your settings
  3. In your Shopify Admin, add the 'exclude-order' tag to all orders you'd like to exclude from your loyalty program
