Sometimes you may need to adjust points for specific customers for various reasons, such as a special event or an exclusive sale separate from your loyalty program. Follow this guide to learn how to add or deduct points for specific customers!
Key notes
-
The guide below provides instructions for both Loyalty Classic and Loyalty 2.0.
Note: New Loyalty & Rewards installations use Loyalty 2.0 by default. Unless you're working with an existing store that is still on Loyalty Classic, follow the Loyalty 2.0 instructions in this guide. The Loyalty Classic section is included for legacy accounts only.
- If you are looking to add or subtract a set number of points from a large customer list, please email us at support@stamped.io and we'd be happy to help!

VIP tier impact
Adjusting points (adding or subtracting) does not automatically update the customer's VIP tier. If their new points balance qualifies them for a different tier, you will need to change this manually in the customer's profile as well:
It is also worth knowing how tier rewards behave, because a Points Adjustment is often the right way to compensate a customer when they do not fire:
- Downgrades never issue rewards. When a customer moves down a tier, Stamped records only the tier change. No entry reward is created, and no coupon is generated or emailed. A tier-change notification may still be sent if you have that enabled, but it will not contain a coupon.
- Skipped tiers are not backfilled. If a customer jumps straight from your lowest tier to your highest, they receive the entry reward only for the tier they land on. The rewards for the tiers they skipped are never generated, and they are not issued later if the customer downgrades into one of those tiers.
In either case, if you want to compensate the customer, you will need to issue it manually: either generate a manual coupon or make a Points Adjustment on their profile using the steps above.
