Loyalty & Rewards: Shopify Checkout Widget

Stamped allows you to add a points redemption widget on the Shopify Plus checkout page, giving customers the option to see their points balance, redeem for specific rewards, cash discounts and more.

What's New?

  • We have released a new version of the Shopify Checkout Widget!
    • This new version aims to improve customer’s visibility of the rewards they have available to them. This will help reduce cart abandonment, increase conversion and improve the utilization of your rewards program!
  • We will be supporting the old checkout widget until August 30th 2024. After this date, we will only be supporting the new checkout widget.

  • What are the features of the new checkout widget?
    • Points Balance:
      We've updated the points balance display to make it clearer and more visible to customers.
    • New Ready to Use Rewards Section:
      This section highlights rewards customers have redeemed but not yet applied. Previously hard to find, these rewards are now front and center, making it easy for customers to apply them at checkout and encouraging purchases.


    • New Available Rewards Section:
      This section lists all rewards customers can redeem with their points, displayed at checkout to incentivize purchases by showing potential discounts.
    • New Cash Discount Section:
      Replacing the old checkout widget, this section offers a more user-friendly way to redeem variable discount rewards. It shows the conversion rate of points to dollars and allows customers to enter their desired cash discount, with improved error handling and validation based on merchant settings. If a customer is eligible for multiple variable discount rewards, the reward that is most advantageous  (i.e. is the best deal) will be chosen to power the cash discount tab.

FAQ

  • Why isn't the checkout widget showing for a customer?
    There is a small delay in between the customer creating an account on Shopify and the customer being created in the Stamped platform. Depending on how the customer flows through the process, there is a chance that the widget is not displayed for a customer's first checkout. Refreshing the page or waiting a few moments to checkout after creating an account will ensure the checkout widget is displayed.
  • Why isn't the cash discount tab showing to customers?
    If you do not have any variable redemption rewards enabled the cash discount tab will be hidden to customers. Enabling a variable redemption rule will ensure this tab is displayed.
  • What happens if a customer does not have enough points to redeem an award?
    In the Available Rewards tab, a lock symbol will be displayed beside any reward that a customer does not have enough points to redeem. If a customer does not have enough points to redeem a variable discount reward, the cash discount tab will be disabled and the customer will be informed they do not have enough points to redeem the reward

Adding the Checkout Widget

  1. In your Shopify Plus admin dashboard, head to Settings > Checkout
  2. In the Checkout Customization section, click Customize beside the default checkout profile:

  3. This will bring you to the Shopify Checkout customization section in your Theme Editor. From here, click Add App Block and select the points-redemption-v2 block:



  4. You'll be prompted to enter the Discount Rule ID for the block, which can be found in the Redeeming Points section of your Stamped dashboard by finding the rule, clicking the ... and selecting Copy Rule ID:

  5. Don't forget to hit Save in the Theme Editor when you're done!
